Botox has come into the world and has changed lives. Over time, we have “frowned” ourselves into a place of no return, and Botox is the only way out.
For many of us, it is a step we want to take, we’ve seen results from our friends and colleagues, but that nagging question remains…”Is it right for me? Let’s get the “wrinkle-free” lowdown on Botox and then you can decide if this injectable is in your future.
How Does Botox Work?
Wrinkles on the skin are a direct result of the repetitive action of the facial muscles. When Botox is used, the muscles are prevented from contracting. Thus, the wrinkles are softened or eliminated. Most often, with regularly scheduled Botox injections, the time between the injections gets longer. It appears that the muscles develop atrophy over time.
Bare in mind that the component of the aging process that is treated with Botox, is different than that which is treated with a facelift. Indeed one would look much better after having Botox, but over time you may be looking for a facelift.
Botox Side Effects and Recovery
Side effects from Botox are minimal. Slight swelling at the injection site, minimal bruising and on rare occasions, a headache may develop after the injection. Some people have noticed a slight droopiness to the eyelids, but this disappears after the Botox wears off.
It is essential that in choosing your provider, that you do so with much care and thoughtfulness. It is, after all, ultimately their expertise that will decide whether or not the results you get to measure up to your expectations.
