WHAT IS PLATELET RICH FIBRIN?

Platelet rich fibrin, or PRF, is similar to PRP but instead of using just the platelets and plasma from the blood, PRF also uses the fibrin matrix which provides a significant supercharge to the results. Fibrin functions as a matrix that traps the platelets and controls their release of growth factors. This helps to produce quicker and longer-lasting results than what are achievable with just PRP.

PRP TREATMENTS

During your treatment at Neaman Medi Spa, a small sample of your blood will be collected. The blood is then placed into a centrifuge where it is spun to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected directly into the treatment area using a needle. PRP can be used on the entire face and neck area, and is even helpful in treating the delicate thin skin and dark circles underneath the eyes. PRP is often combined with microneedling where tiny channels are created on the skin’s surface and PRP is inserted further into the skin to stimulate collagen production and tissue renewal.

PRF TREATMENTS

PRF is administered much the same way as PRP. First, a blood sample is taken and then placed in a centrifuge. However, instead of just separating the platelets out, fibrin is also separated to be injected back into the skin. When using PRF, there is a 15-minute window in which after the blood has been drawn and spun to separate, that it must be injected into the treatment area. Unlike PRP, PRF cannot be used with microneedling; however, PRF is effective at treating the undereye area.

RESULTS AND RECOVERY

Both platelet-rich plasma and platelet-rich fibrin injections are great options for repairing the skin and treating signs of aging. Both treatments are quick, relatively painless, and require no post-procedure care.

Following injections, mild swelling and redness can occur but is only temporary.

Because PRP and PRF use components from your own blood, there is little to no risk of possible adverse reactions. For optimal results, two to three treatments spaced four weeks apart are recommended.
