How Long Does It Take to See Botox Results?

14 Sep 2021 How Long Does It Take to See Botox Results?

Botox is a prescription drug scientifically known as botulinum toxin, which is a neurotoxin produced by clostridium botulinum. It weakens or paralyzes muscles.

Some brands of Botulinum toxin include Dysport, Xeomin, Myobloc, and Jeuveau. Most people refer to the treatment as Botox because this is the most popular brand.

Doctors use small quantities of Botox to treat migraines, muscular disorders, excessive sweating, neck spasms, and facial lines, and wrinkles. Our focus is on how it treats facial lines and wrinkles.

How Does Botox Work?

As a cosmetic, Botox is used to treat frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet—lines around the eyes. Some studies show that it will not help with wrinkles brought about by gravity or sun damage. Basically, it blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles hence preventing the muscles from contracting. Consequently, this relaxes or softens wrinkles, giving a youthful look.

The treatment procedure is pretty simple. Your doctor will inject Botox underneath the skin, into the specific muscles you intend to target. For your comfort, the doctor may use anesthesia on these areas, but it is not necessary. The procedure should only take a few minutes.

What Ensures the Best Results?

The Common side effects of Botox are eye irritation and redness or bruising. To minimize the side effects and get the best results, your doctor may advise you to take the following actions:

  • Avoid alcohol from at least a week to the procedure
  • Stop taking anti-inflammatory medication and aspirin two weeks before the treatment to prevent bruising
  • To avoid spreading Botox to unwanted areas, refrain from rubbing the injection site for at least 24 hours.
  • Stay upright for up to four hours after the injection
  • Do not exercise for at least a day.

How Long Before You See Results?

According to statistics, Botox takes anything from seven to 14 days to have a full effect. The duration may be determined by your age, gender, muscle mass, skin elasticity, the type of Botox used, and the injection volume in terms of dosage.

Depending on the size of the muscle, the effect lasts for three to six months. Another determinant of this is the heaviness of the dosage you receive. Your healthcare provider should help you choose a dosage that won’t make you look too unnatural.

It is important to note that Botox is not necessarily a permanent solution. Once the effect wears off, you will need to have another treatment. Studies show that, on average, most mild-dosed treatments last for four months. Based on this, you need at least three treatments per year.

Bottom Line

If you decide to have a Botox treatment, ensure you find a board-certified physician to perform the procedure. Carry out sufficient research and settle on a doctor who will help you understand all the factors that come into play when you use Botox and, most importantly, one who will give you the results you desire.

Can You Get a Pre-Baby Body With a Mommy Makeover?

8 Aug 2021 Can You Get a Pre-Baby Body With a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is a general term used to refer to a cosmetic procedure package designed to restore a woman’s body to its pre-pregnancy state. The focus is usually on the breasts and the abdomen because this is where the most significant changes occur.

The following are the most common procedures in a mommy makeover:

  • Breast augmentation: This surgical procedure increases the breast size using either saline implants, silicone gel implants, or fat grafting.
  • Breast lift: A breast lift fixes uneven breasts, sagging, drooping nipples, decreased breast volume, and stretched areolas.
  • Breast reduction: Reduces your breasts’ size by removing fat and glandular tissue. The reduction then tightens the skin.
  • Tummy tuck: Also known as abdominoplasty, this procedure removes loose, excess skin, fat, and stretch marks below the belly button.
  • Liposuction: Reduces fatty bulges on the thighs, belly, hips, arms, neck, chin, or chest, especially the kind that fails to respond to exercise and diet.

How Do You Go About Getting a Mommy Makeover?

Seeing as a mommy makeover entails very delicate, extensive procedures, you will need to find an experienced, reputable, board-certified surgeon who is comfortable to work with. Once you schedule a consultation, your surgeon will need to know about any medical conditions you may have, drug allergies, whether you are on any medication or supplements, your level of recreational drug usage, and if you have had any surgeries before. They may also inquire about your history with non-invasive cosmetic procedures. Ensure you give honest, detailed answers because this information will help determine the best, safest course of action for you.

After the initial consultation, you will schedule an appointment for the procedure. In most cases, all these procedures are performed on the same day so that you can have sufficient downtime. In preparation, you will need to ready your home for recovery so that everything is conveniently within your reach. You will also need a solid support system for the recovery period because you will be unable to lift heavy things (including your baby) or take on many tasks between the first four to six weeks afterward. However, you should start to feel better within two to three weeks.

Can You Get Your Pre-Baby Body Back?

Your pre-baby body will be restored after the mommy makeover: you’ll have a youthful bust, flat tummy, and a slimmer body appearance, hence better-fitting clothes. Most people report seeing this outcome starting from three months after the makeover. The variation depends on the specific procedures you undergo.

The results are permanent, apart from the breast implants, which will need replacement after some time. You must keep exercising and eating healthy because if you gain weight, the results will be compromised. Additionally, avoid getting pregnant again. In case you desire to have more children, your surgeon will recommend non-surgical procedures for your mommy makeovers, such as non-surgical fat reduction, skin resurfacing treatments, skin-tightening treatments, and injectables such as Botox and fillers. The results will not be as dramatic as those of surgery, but you’ll be safe to have a baby.

Conclusion

You must have all your facts right before you get a mommy makeover. A great way to ensure this is to find a professional plastic surgeon. A great surgeon will also guarantee that you love how you look afterward.

CoolSculpting Sessions Can Help Melt Away Fat

15 Jul 2021 CoolSculpting Sessions Can Help Melt Away Fat
Posted at 14:07h in Fat Reduction 0 Likes

Many people who have lost weight through diet and exercise retain stubborn fat that just won’t go away no matter what they do. If that sounds like you, a non-invasive procedure called CoolSculpting can help. This procedure uses a scientific process of cooling cells to the point that they die, known as cryolipolysis, to freeze and eliminate fat cells, to help tone and contour the body.

How CoolSculpting Works

CoolSculpting uses freezing temperatures to break down fat cells, a process called cryolipolysis. This in-office procedure utilizes a gel pad and an applicator that pulls the targeted area into the handpiece to freeze the fat cells. Treatments take approximately one hour and reduce the number of fat cells in the targeted area by approximately 25%. The freezing temperatures kill the fat cells but do not affect other healthy cells in the area. Your liver eventually processes the fat cells out of the body within several weeks of treatment. Patients require at least two treatments to achieve desired results, with some requiring three or four. An additional 25% of fat cells will die and be excreted from your body with each treatment. Most people see full results within three months.

Is CoolSculpting Permanent?

The human body has a limited number of fat cells. Once these cells die, they are gone forever. Anyone who follows a healthy diet, exercises regularly and does not gain a significant amount of weight should see permanent results. However, if you gain weight, your remaining fat cells can grow in size again. Most experts recommend that individuals interested in undergoing CoolSculpting are within five to 10 pounds of their target weight for the best results. CoolSculpting is not a weight loss procedure for those who are obese. Neither does it tighten loose skin. Not that CoolSculpting does not rid the body of visceral fat, which you can reduce by diet and exercise.

What to Expect During Treatment

The procedure doesn’t hurt, although many patients feel a tugging sensation from the suction device. You may also feel cooling on the treatment area. Treatments take under an hour, with the length of time dependent on the targeted area’s size. Because this procedure is not invasive, you can have treatment during your lunch hour and return to work and normal activities later in the day.

What Areas of the Body Respond to CoolSculpting?

Patients commonly get CoolSculpting to reduce fat in the thighs, lower back, abdomen and sides. Other areas where this procedure works well include:

  • Submental (Under the chin)
  • Thighs
  • Arms
  • Bulges around shoulders
  • Knees
  • Banana roll underneath buttocks

Possible Side Effects

Although CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved procedure, some people experience minor side effects. These include pain, aching or stinging at the treatment site about two weeks after treatment along with short-term redness, swelling, bruising and skin sensitivity, all of which usually go away on their own without additional treatment.

When You Should Consider a Mommy Makeover

07 Jun 2021 When You Should Consider a Mommy Makeover
Posted at 14:47h in Mommy Makeover 0 Likes

Motherhood is an extraordinary journey and one of the most rewarding experiences of a woman’s life. However, childbirth and pregnancy can take a heavy toll on a woman’s body. Many women experience a wide range of changes in their body after pregnancy including stretch marks, abdominal bulging, sagging skin, and excess fat deposits. Many women do not have the time to exercise for hours each week and even those who do, may not see the results they want. This can be detrimental to a woman’s self-esteem. The average mother isn’t trying to emulate an ageless celebrity, but rather, they simply want to look and feel like themselves again.

Women spend so much time taking care of their children and their families and they often forget to take care of themselves. However, self care is extremely important and can even make women better mothers. For some women, this may include getting cosmetic procedures done to help them look and feel like they did before their pregnancy. These procedures are commonly packaged together in what is referred to as a Mommy Makeover. Mommy Makeovers are designed to help women get their body back into pre-pregnancy shape in an effort to boost their self-confidence.

What’s Included in a Mommy Makeover?

Mommy makeovers typically include a tummy tuck and breast procedure, but given that every woman is unique, this package can be customized to fit an individual woman’s needs. Other common procedures that might be included are:

  • Liposuction
  • Thigh lift
  • Butt augmentation
  • Upper arm lift

There are also non-surgical options available that include injectables such as QWO as well as PDO threading. QWO is the first and only FDA approved injectable used to treat moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks. PDO threading is a non-surgical procedure in which a very fine acupuncture needle and dissolvable threads are injected into the skin to tighten and reduce sagging skin.

Reasons to Consider a Mommy Makeover

Whether you are looking to boost your self-confidence or you just want to feel like yourself again, a Mommy Makeover is a very effective way to transform your postpartum body. While the reasoning for getting a Mommy Makeover is personal, these are a few common reasons why this package might be right for you.

  • You have excess skin that will not go away with healthy diet and exercise
  • You have stretch marks or unwanted cellulite from pregnancy
  • You have saggy or uneven breasts from breastfeeding
  • You have difficulty losing weight in your abdomen, thighs, or arms despite healthy diet and exercise

Like any surgical procedure, there will be a recovery process in which patients should expect some pain and will require much needed rest. Depending on which procedures you have done, this could last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. If you are considering a Mommy Makeover, be sure and ask your doctor about specific care related to your procedures. Being a mom is never easy, but treating yourself to a Mommy Makeover can rejuvenate your spirit and help you feel like yourself again.

The best way to decide which procedure is best suited for your specific needs is to schedule a consultation with Salem plastic surgeons Dr. Keith Neaman or Dr. Dustin Christiansen so together you can discuss your aesthetic goals and review your particular situation, including assessing your current breast profile. A treatment plan will be devised, and you will be on your way to younger, perkier looking breasts. Contact Neaman Plastic Surgery today and schedule your consultation at 844-338-5445!

Getting the Best Results With Skin-Tightening Procedures

19 May 2021 Getting the Best Results With Skin-Tightening Procedures
Posted at 09:13h in Skin Tightening 0 Likes

Everyone wants to look young and vital, but some people are willing to go farther to achieve it than others. Having healthy habits over the course of a lifetime is the best way to accomplish this. However, there are other ways to look younger. These come with various advantages and drawbacks. One popular method to obtain a younger appearance is skin tightening. There are numerous ways to make your skin firmer and appear more youthful.

How Long Does Skin Tightening Last?

The duration of effectiveness depends on the type of treatment used, your response to treatment, underlying causes of loose or sagging skin, your diet, and use of home skin care methods.

The best treatments are those which stimulate collagen growth. Collagen is a natural supportive tissue that runs under the surface layer to hold, firm, and tighten the skin. With age, our collagen will naturally diminish, causing the skin to loosen, wrinkle, and sag. Successful collagen stimulation can take up to six months to produce noticeable results. But these results will last between 6-10 years for most people.

 Methods of Skin Tightening

There are many ways to tighten the skin, each with its various levels of effectiveness. Using a home skin-tightening and care regimen is a good way to make a professional skin-tightening treatment last longer.

 Skin Firming Lotions and Creams

Many products claim to firm and/or tighten the skin. Some work better than others, and some work with certain skin types and less well for others. This type of treatment is the least expensive and can be done at home. It also takes the longest to achieve noticeable results. In reality, like a healthy diet, this type of treatment should be a permanent part of your daily regimen and not something intended to achieve short-term results. High-quality firming creams and lotions can be a good supplement to cosmetic skin tightening. They may even help to make the skin-tightening procedure last longer.

Non-Surgical Methods

There are several non-surgical and minimally invasive methods. They include but are not limited to:

  • Radiofrequency: This method uses thin needles to heat lower layers of the skin more directly. It is one of the most precision-oriented methods. It is designed to stimulate collagen growth.
  • Laser Resurfacing: Considered to be the most effective method for tightening loose portions of skin, like under the jaw. You will need 3-5 treatments to achieve noticeable results.
  • Ultrasound: This method delivers deep-heating effects to the lower layers of skin. Like the radiofrequency treatment, this method is designed to stimulate collagen growth.

 Integrated Skin-Tightening Treatments

Other methods of tightening the skin take a multi-layered approach. Many professionals recommend a multi-step process as this process can target the various signs of aging, multiple layers of skin, and their different structural requirements.

These steps may incorporate the use of special devices designed to trigger collagen production, laser treatments meant to target imperfections in the surface of the skin, deep tissue stimulation, and polishing the exterior of the skin.

The 3 Surprising Benefits of Sunscreen

26 Apr 2021 The 3 Surprising Benefits of Sunscreen
Posted at 10:34h in Skin Care 0 Likes

It’s a well-known fact – sunscreen is essential for preventing premature aging, including wrinkles, age spots, and sagging skin. But did you know that regular use of sunscreen can reduce your risk of developing certain types of skin cancer by as much as 50%? Read on for the benefits.

1. Halves Your Chance of Developing Melanoma and SCC

Melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) are two of the deadliest forms of skin cancer. The CDC suggests sunscreen as one of the best preventative measures, along with common sense solutions like staying in the shade when possible. The CDC also emphasizes the need to apply it as directed, which is much more often than once a day if you spend significant time outdoors.

Your chances of fighting these diseases are higher than you think. The Skin Cancer Foundation reports one in five Americans will deal with some form of skin cancer by the time they’re 70 years old. Every hour, two people in the country die from skin cancer, and if you’ve had more than five sunburns in your life, you’ve doubled your chances of developing melanoma.

The good news is, the Skin Cancer Foundation suggests simply wearing sunscreen decreases your chances of developing melanoma by approximately 40% and your chances of developing SCC by around 50%. At the very least, that helps balance the odds if you spent a lot of time collecting sunburns as a kid.

2 You Spend Less on Skincare

While sunscreen won’t replace your entire skincare routine, it can help prevent the kinds of blemishes, loss of elasticity, and dullness that come with age. Your skin changes as you age in great part because of wear and tear. The sun does more damage than any other external force, and taking preventative measures may mean less money invested in specialized dermal treatments and aesthetic procedures down the road. Just as healthier plants produce better flowers, healthier skin maintains its bloom for longer periods.

3. Better Skin for Early Warnings

Your skin takes a beating in day-to-day life, but sunscreen can delay signs of aging, prevent blemishes, and generally help preserve your complexion. Good skin, however, isn’t just about looking your best. It can also help you live a longer, healthier life.

While some aging is natural, keeping your skin in peak condition helps you spot problems quickly. According to the American Cancer Society, survival rates for patients with melanoma greatly depend on when patients bring early warning signs to their doctors’ attention.

Poor sun protection habits lead to lots of issues that may hide these early warning signs. If you have clear, healthy skin, you’re much more likely to notice unusual discoloration, bumps and itching. Cancer doesn’t wait for you to figure out you may have a problem. Staying a step ahead is critical, which is why doctors and scientists push skincare habits like sunscreen so frequently.

Applying a little sunscreen today can protect your looks and your life. A bottle of broad-spectrum SPF 30 is a surprisingly valuable accessory.

How Long You Can Expect CoolSculpting Results to Last

09 Apr 2021 How Long You Can Expect CoolSculpting Results to Last
Posted at 09:49h in Fat Reduction 0 Likes

As a health-conscious individual, you likely strive to make excellent choices with your diet and exercise. Less sugar, more protein, and regular workouts are all key to helping a person lose weight and keep it off.

Diet as we may and exercise as we might, sometimes it is impossible to get rid of those stubborn pockets of fat. When diet and exercise don’t offer the results you are looking for, CoolSculpting may be just what you need to get rid of those extra bulges.

What Is CoolSculpting?

If you have never heard of CoolSculpting, you may have questions about what it is, how it produces results, and how long CoolSculpting results last. CoolSculpting is a revolutionary body contouring technique. It works by freezing those stubborn pockets of fat behind your arms, in your midsection, on your thighs, and in other parts of your body.

It works based on the principle that fat cells are damaged at a temperature that is warmer than the other tissues in your body. Targeted cooling is used to freeze the fat, destroying the fat cells. Once the fat cells are destroyed, your body’s natural waste removal system kicks in and gets rid of the fat. Once fat cells are destroyed, they are gone for good.

How Long Do the Results from CoolSculpting Last?

CoolSculpting treatments will produce visible results just a few weeks after the treatments are complete. It takes around 12 weeks in total for you to see the most dramatic improvements from your treatment.

At the 12-week mark, up to 20% of the targeted fat cells have been destroyed and removed by your body.

The speed with which you see results will vary. It depends on if you are targeting one small region, a larger region, or multiple regions. You may need more than one treatment to see results. CoolSculpting is safe enough that it can be repeated in the same area to maximize results.

Since CoolSculpting destroys fat cells, the results are permanent. Fat cells that have been destroyed do not migrate or grow.

This does not mean that it is impossible for you to put on weight. This is because there is a difference between losing fat cells and losing weight. If you lose weight, you keep the same number of fat cells. The only difference is that the fat cells become smaller.

With CoolSculpting, these fat cells are removed. The bulge of fat you have around your midsection and other parts of your body will disappear. However, if you eat unhealthy foods and don’t exercise, your remaining fat cells can grow. You may not put on weight in the areas that have been treated, but you will put weight on other parts of the body.

CoolSculpting is not designed to replace diet and exercise. It is a tool that can help you reach your fitness goals. The results can be permanent, especially if the treatment is coupled with a healthy diet and a good exercise routine.

3 Things You Can Expect If You Have Botox Injections

29 Mar 2021 3 Things You Can Expect If You Have Botox Injections
Posted at 13:19h in Botox 0 Likes

Are you interested in reducing your wrinkles, crow’s feet, or frown lines and looking to rejuvenate your skin? If so, you aren’t alone. Botox is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the country and one of the most requested services at our clinic. If you are considering getting Botox injections for the first time, you might be wondering what you can expect from the procedure. How does Botox work? Are there any side effects? How long does it last? These are all common questions and it’s important to understand this procedure so you can make an informed decision about what is best for you.

What is Botox?

Botox is an FDA approved injectable that works to temporarily weaken the muscles in your face that cause wrinkles, laugh lines, creases around your mouth, and crow’s feet. The treatment is a safe and effective way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improve the appearance of the skin. Botox injections are the most frequently performed noninvasive procedures and take only about 10-15 minutes to complete.

What to Expect After Your Injection

Botox is a quick, safe, and effective procedure that can help to rejuvenate the skin, leaving you with a more youthful appearance. As with any procedure, there may be some side effects associated with your injection, though these are generally mild. Here is an idea of what you can expect after the procedure.

1) You Can Resume Normal Activity Immediately

One of the reasons so many people choose Botox injections is because they are fast and convenient. It takes only a matter of minutes to complete the procedure, so you can actually have it done on your lunch hour. You can expect to resume your normal daily activities right after the procedure. You should, however, avoid lying down for four hours following treatment. Immediately after your treatment, you may notice small red bumps but these should go away in about 20-30 minutes. Swelling and redness may occur, though this is not common with every patient. If you do notice these symptoms, they should resolve within an hour. Alternatively, bruising could occur, though this is less likely. To reduce inflammation and swelling, take care not to rub or massage the treated area right after the procedure.

2) You Should Notice Results in 2-5 Days

Botox will smooth your skin, but you will not notice the results immediately. In most cases, it will take about 2-3 days to see the first changes and it could take up to two weeks for the injection to take full effect. It’s important to note that cosmetic procedures are not immediate and they are also not a one and done procedure.

3) Results Usually Last About 3 to 5 Months

Botox is not a permanent procedure and over time the treatment is metabolized by the body. One treatment lasts between three to five months on average, though results vary depending on the individual patient. For continuous results, schedule treatments at regular intervals with your specialist. If at any time you choose to discontinue treatment, your lines and wrinkles will gradually return over time.

5 Easy Remedies for Under-Eye Bags

16 Mar 2021 5 Easy Remedies for Under-Eye Bags
Posted at 09:00h in Skin Care 0 Likes

Under-eye bags, also notoriously known as dark circles, are common cosmetic blemishes that plague a lot of people. Fortunately, it’s as easy to rectify under-eye bags as it is to get them from those late-night TV show binges. With these five methods, you can reduce the bags under your eyes and get people to focus more on those dashing eyes.

Wipe Under Eyes With Cool Compress

Find 10-15 minutes in the day to apply a cool compress under your eyes. Wet a clean face towel with cold water, and apply the towel to the affected area, repeatedly wiping underneath the eyes in a curved motion using mild pressure. Cooling the skin reduces inflammation and swelling by restricting blood flow. Aside from a face towel, you can also use an ice pack, frozen bag of vegetables, or the classic chilled cucumber slices.

Examine the Root Cause

The root cause of under-eye bags can be different from one person to the next. Some common reasons include thinning of the skin underneath or above the eyes as a natural result of aging, allergic response, excess consumption of high-sodium foods, and poor tear duct drainage. By understanding the root cause, you can better address the problem with the most appropriate solution. For instance, if it is diet-related, you can simply cut back on salty foods, such as chips and sauces.

Drink Plenty of Water

Water constitutes 60% of a person’s body weight. If you are suffering from dehydration, one of the ways the body will manifest it is through under-eye bags. Increasing water intake should help curb the visual effects. How much water is enough per day depends on several factors, including gender, weight, and activity level. On average, however, men are advised 13 cups of fluids per day while women are advised 9 cups of fluids per day. If you find it difficult to drink this much water per day, you can also drink herbal decaffeinated tea, which counts towards your required daily fluid intake.

Consider Surgical Options

Eyelid surgery, also medically known as blepharoplasty, is also an option for quick correction of under-eye bags. During eyelid surgery, surgeons at Neaman Plastic Surgery will carefully make an incision either in the upper lid or inside the lower lid and then carefully remove the excess fat. The incision is then closed up with microscopic dissolving stitches. Aside from repairing under-eye bags, the procedure is also commonly performed to correct baggy or puffy upper lids and to remove excess skin on either lower or upper lids.

Get Enough Rest

How much sleep you get can indirectly contribute to dark circles. While there isn’t sufficient study that connects lack of sleep and under-eye bags, getting inadequate sleep can affect your skin’s complexion, making it look paler. This, in contrast with the darker skin underneath your eyes, may illuminate the imperfection even further.

Eye bags are a minor issue that should not bother you. With the solutions listed above, you can quickly remedy the problem without losing any sleep.
