Generally speaking a mommy makeover is a term commonly used to describe rejuvenation surgery of the abdomen and breasts. However, there are many different options/procedures involved in a surgery of this type.
Often times a mommy makeover involves some sort of combination of the following surgical procedures:
- Breast lift with or without augmentation
- Breast reduction
- Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
- Mini abdominoplasty
- Simple scar revision of a C-section
- Small or large breast implants
- Full breast reconstruction
The recovery from mommy makeover surgery is quite varied. Some patients are young and bounce back, others are older and take longer to recover. For an “average” mommy makeover, patients can usually drive by 1 week, walk five miles on a flat surface by two weeks, and run by 4 weeks. Hard workouts generally start at around 6 weeks.
The goal for many women who opt for a mommy makeover is to try to correct the many changes that can affect a woman’s body after childbirth or weight gain/loss. When consulting with your board certified plastic surgeon be sure to be specific about your goals and expectations so that the surgeon you have selected can recommend the best procedure(s) for you to ensure optimal results.
