Rhinoplasty improves the shape, size, structure, and functionality of the nose. Also referred to as a “nose job,” rhinoplasty is one of the most common facial plastic surgeries for a reason. It provides a range of benefits such as achieving better facial balance and harmony between the features, resolving damage caused by trauma, or addressing structural birth defects that impair breathing.
The Rhinoplasty Procedure
Rhinoplasty surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. There are two types of rhinoplasty: a closed procedure where incisions are made inside the nose and an open procedure in which incisions are made across the skin that separates the nostrils. During rhinoplasty, nasal cartilage, bone structure and tissue are reshaped and altered. Cartilage and bone can be removed to achieve a smaller nose profile, or synthetic tissue can be added to enhance the size of the nose or to achieve your desired nose shape.
