Bra Line Back Lift

Many women are plagued with upper back rolls that create an unflattering appearance when wearing a bra. Commonly referred to as “bra fat,” back fat usually appears above and below the bra line helping to contribute to uneven contours. A bra line back lift is a body contouring procedure that corrects loose, sagging skin or fat rolls on the upper and middle back. Dr. Keith Neaman and Dr. Dustin Christiansen of Neaman Plastic Surgery often combine a bra line back lift with liposuction to improve bodily contours further. Show Off Your Back With Confidence

The excess skin and fat that can accumulate over the bra strap is a common concern for many women. Diet and exercise usually do little to combat this loose, hanging tissue, especially when there is a lack of skin elasticity. Although back fat can also affect men who typically resort to a back lift to achieve a tight, tone torso, women are the ones who become distressed over this condition as their clothing options become limited and they become hesitant to wear form-fitting clothing in fear it will accentuate their back fat.

A bra-line back lift is an ideal treatment for women, because it can restore their confidence by doing the following:

  • Contour and rejuvenate the upper back
  • Remove excessive tissue that roles over the bra strap
  • Create a smooth and uniform contour to the upper and lower back

The Bra Line Back Lift Procedure

A bra line back lift is performed under general anesthesia. An incision is made across the target area giving access to the excess skin and tissue. If needed or desired, liposuction will be utilized during surgery to remove any fatty bulges. By combining liposuction with a back lift, it helps to improve the final shape and contour. Finally, excess skin will be excised with the remaining skin being pulled taut to smooth out the region. The incision will be sutured shut with special care that any scars will be hidden beneath the bra or bathing suit.

Recovery – Compression garments should be worn to aid in shaping your new torso following surgery, and strenuous exercise should be avoided for several weeks. The results are often dramatic as the upper back is contoured allowing one to wear a bra without excessive bulging.

Bra Line Back Lift FAQ’s

Can other body contouring procedures be combined with a bra line back lift?

If you are in good general health, it’s always recommended when possible to combine multiple procedures. This helps to cut down on surgical costs and recovery time. A back lift is often performed alongside other body contouring procedures such as a tummy tuck, arm lift, and body lift.

Will I have scars?

Dr. Neaman and Dr. Christiansen will do their best to minimize scarring. In most cases, all scars resulting from a bra line back lift are able to be well hidden under a bra or other clothing.
