Childbirth can sometimes wreak havoc to one’s body leaving young mothers wishing to regain their pre-pregnancy bodies. “Mommy Makeover” are quickly becoming very popular combining a variety of procedures to help get the desired results.
Here are a few tips that may be helpful in deciding if a Mommy Makeover is right for you.
Breast Augmentation
Many women feel as if their breast appear smaller and/or look saggier after childbirth. Whether one breastfed or not, sometimes just the normal weight gain/loss associated with pregnancy can do this to breasts. Breast augmentation is often one of the most popular procedures performed during a mommy makeover. One factor you will have to consider is the type of implant you will have with your breast augmentation, silicone or saline implants. Be sure to discuss with your Plastic Surgeon the options and desired outcome and together you guys can identify the type of implant that is best for you.
Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Tummy Tucks, also known as abdominoplasty are another procedure often performed during a mommy makeover. Flabby abdomens, stretched out muscles and stretch marks continue to make tummy tucks a viable option for new moms to help restore a flatter tummy. During a Tummy Tuck, both skin and fat are removed from the top of the pubic hairline to the belly button. In addition, abdominal muscles are tightened and any stretch marks that were below the belly button disappear.
Liposuction
Sagging arms, love handles and extra fat on breasts under the armpits all are issues that women seek an answer for after childbirth, as diet and exercise alone sometimes just doesn’t solve these issues. Therefore, it is a very popular procedure performed during a mommy makeover. Liposuction uses a suction device to make tiny holes to break up and remove fatty tissue from stubborn areas.
Breast Reduction
During a Breast Reduction, fat, tissue and skin are removed, and the breasts are then reshaped. This procedure can sometimes be a part of a mommy makeover. Many women turn to breast reduction because after weight gain due to the pregnancy, combined with sagginess, it has left their breasts heavier, many times causing neck and back pain.
A mommy makeover procedure is unique to each individual and depending on the look, feel and overall result you are looking for, will require different aspects and/or procedures.
